I designed this app as an avid home cook myself, wanting a space where I could easily store my recipes with helpful features like a timer and images. As a visual learner, I needed an app that made it simple to recreate my favorite dishes with clear, repeatable instructions.
As a personal project, See Your Recipe was born out of my need for a more organized and visual way to manage my favorite recipes. Existing apps lacked the functionality I needed, so I designed an app that allows home cooks like me to easily store and access recipes with helpful features like a built-in timer, step-by-step images, and customizable folders. This project reflects my passion for cooking and my desire to create a tool that makes the cooking experience more enjoyable and efficient.
Results
Despite the challenges faced during the development of See Your Recipe, the project culminated in a user-friendly app that addresses the needs of home cooks who seek an organized and visual approach to managing their recipes. By leveraging my own experiences as an avid cook, I designed features such as customizable folders, a built-in timer, and step-by-step images to cater to visual learners like myself.
The iterative design process, guided by feedback and focused practice with Figma, ensured that the app's interface remained intuitive and visually consistent. Although working independently presented challenges, I was able to efficiently manage the project timeline and deliver a final product that enhances the cooking experience. See Your Recipe empowers home cooks to easily store, organize, and access their favorite recipes, making meal preparation more enjoyable and streamlined.
Design Process
The design process for See Your Recipe began with identifying the needs of home cooks who, like myself, wanted an intuitive and visual way to manage their recipes. I focused on creating an app that would simplify recipe organization while providing helpful features such as a built-in timer, image integration, and detailed instructions.
The initial stages involved brainstorming key functionalities, followed by sketching out the basic layout of the app. I created low-fidelity wireframes to visualize how users would navigate through different sections, such as folders, individual recipe pages, and timers. As the design progressed, I refined these wireframes into high-fidelity prototypes using Figma, ensuring a visually consistent and user-friendly interface.
User feedback played a crucial role in iterating the design, leading to the addition of features like customizable recipe folders and step-by-step image instructions. Throughout the process, I aimed to balance functionality with a clean, accessible design that would enhance the cooking experience for users.

Reflecting on the development of "See Your Recipe," I’m proud of how it turned out as a personal project aimed at enhancing the cooking experience.
